Here is something I'm sure you'll all be interested in... I just found out that Batman Begins is the first movie in a trilogy. That's the best news I've heard in a while. Fri, May. 13th, 2005, 11:24 am

I have a confession to make... I got faux-hawked today. I didn't ask for it, just wanted the same haircut I got last month (which in no way resembled the infamous haircut that is the subject of this post) only a little shorter. So I basically told her just do whatever, and then she kinda mentioned the mohawk, but I thought she was kidding... I was wrong. Anyway, here I sit, wondering what to do. I don't want to go back to a shaved head, that's a little drastic, but I don't know if I can wear the faux-hawk to work. Mon, Apr. 4th, 2005, 01:47 pm
No Dr. Pepper, Coke, etc. for me for the next month! Be afraid, be very afraid.
So I recently purchased Fallout 1 and 2, Diablo, and the first 5 Might & Magic games. Needless to say I'm going to be a busy man for the next few weeks...
For those of you who said James and I should not have gone hiking yesterday...

That is all.

Shopping went well. The Costco discount is the best thing evar! I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma, Dark Blue, Power Everything, and Crew Cab. (Well, I technically won't own it for a week cause all the loan stuff has to approve and whatnot) Anyway, I'm sure you'll all be seeing it soon. Sat, Dec. 18th, 2004, 03:40 pm
All you people out there in Live Journal Land keep your fingers crossed that I get a bomb deal on a new truck tomorrow! Also, I'm sick, and Iron and Wine is a really good band.

For the past 2 years I've been attending the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose. I always have a good time, lots of neat things to see and do. I just found out the the con was moved, and will be in San Francisco this year, which is a big plus. I'm just not sure which pass I should get. In the past I've had the basic ticket, which only gets you onto the show floor and usually runs about $100, now, since I've attended past cons I'm entitled to the Alumni discount, and can get the "Classic Pass"... for $695, it would regularly cost $1,350. The real issue here is commitment. If I pay $100 for a ticket, plus gas, hotel fees and all that I'm out maybe $400. I can take that kind of hit for 3 days in San Jose and all, and if I never see a return I'm fine with it. If I decide to fork out $700 for the ticket alone, not to mention the hotel (I'd have to stay like 5 nights because this ticket gets you in 2 days before the $100 one) thats a pretty serious amount of cash. I could afford it, but what's the point if no employment opportunities come of it? So basically if I commit to spending over a grand on this con, I'm making a commitment to get my ass in gear and have a presentable body of work by March... that's no easy thing to accomplish. I've got about a day (16th) to figure this out, before the Alumni discount is no longer valid. So, my friends, if you have any advice or thoughts on my little dilemma, lemme' know! http://www.gdconf.com/Also, employee part was a blast. I had a bit too much to drink, and wasn't feeling too hot yesterday, I'm better now though. Woo
Fri, Oct. 15th, 2004, 01:30 pm Out for Trout!

Going to Lake Hemet this Sunday. Went and bought some new gear this week :) I'm going to try my hand at fly fishing while I'm there, haven't done that in years and I really miss it. It's like taking regular fishing to the next level, and there really is nothing else like it. I remember summers in Idaho, I'd go out to the river and just walk out into the middle of it. It's really amazing, no civilization in sight, just you out there, and you're in the rythm of the cast. You see this tiny thing on the end of your line moving back and forth through the air as if it were a real insect, then you finally let it land and hope to see that little pop on the surface when a rainbow takes hold. It's almost like meditating, everything else just fades away, and you're completely engulfed by what you're doing and where you are.
So Main Street tonight, should be one hell of a time.
Update: Also, after I bought the new fly rod/reel I had to try it out... in the Palm Desert Palms' pool. I'm sure I looked like a moron, but I had a blast. It only took me a few tries to cast correctly, it was almost as if those times in Idaho were just yesterday. Woo!

For any of you that know your way around a paintbrush. Wed night, most of Thursday, and maybe some of Friday will be spent painting my room. The plan is to get everything taped off Wed night, and start painting early Thursday. If any of you feel like helping out just let me know, should be good times, and I promise not to work you too hard. Mon, Sep. 13th, 2004, 10:46 am

Just a little update to let you know where I'm at.
Looks like the move that was scheduled for this weekend has been pushed back until the middle of next week, no big deal.
I'm moving up the Bartender ladder pretty quickly, next schedule I should be their #2 guy. My boss said I'd probably be closing (grrrreat $$$) 3 nights a week, and opening another 2.
I'm packing all my stuff and my rooom is in shambles, but I guess it usually is anyway. So that's nothing new.
We (James, Mike and I) went to the Hunter last night. I'd had a few at the Cliffhouse before we went there, 2 pitchers of beer about the consistency of crude oil, and one Black & Tan later I was definately feeling the effects. Tried to drink a lot of water to avoid the hangover, and it worked pretty well. It's really odd, about 2.5 Newcastles into a night of drinking my pool game gets pretty good, I lose it shortly after, and it comes and goes the rest of the night. I should work out a mathematical equasion so I know exactly how much I'm required to drink in order to own the table.
My car is in the shop right now, just for a tune up. Guess my manifold gaskets were shot, and my pully was showing a lot of wear. Going to get the fuel mixture and idle adjusted, a few other things too. Should be running tip top when I get it back, I'm really excited.
I never thought I'd post one of these things, but I was amazed by it's accuracy and thought you guys should give it a try. Oooh, also... buying a bomb ass digital camera tomorrow, I can't wait!!!! I've wanted one for years.
Tue, Aug. 17th, 2004, 01:54 am Garden State...
The best film I've seen this year. I enjoyed the hell out of it. Movies like this sadden me because if I ever got around to writing a movie I would want it to be much like this, but I can't do it now because it's already been done.
I've always had fond memories of the movie Commando. I used to love it back in the day, it was a great pure action movie. Now however, maybe 10 years after my last viewing, I've discovered something terrible! I can remember being in awe of the sheer badassness of Arnold and the villain Bennet. Hmm... Bennet, that's a pretty tough name. I'd hate to get into a bar brawl with a guy named Bennet you might say to yourself. You'd be wrong, at least if you were fighting this Bennet. This guy is totally queer. Like Big Gay Al queer, possibly even Priscilla Queen of the Desert queer. I was blown away when I first saw him, how could this be the same chainmail wearing hardass I remember?? Anyway, it turns out I'm not the only person thinking this, I suggest you research it further at The Ruthless Guide to 80s Action. |
